Roll your pain away

It’s very rarely that I would review a product. But when something like this comes along and it actually really WORKS, that’s a totally different story.

In my eBook How to Prevent Back Pain in 1 Minute I talk about the best strategies to prevent back pain and also reference the use of foam rollers and this one in particular.

I have used various foam rollers in the past and yeah there are a few okay ones out there, but to be honest I haven’t really been blown away by the results I would get from them. It is also pretty disappointing if a client comes back to me a few weeks later and shows me the result of rolling around on a foam roller that wasn’t up to the task, even if it wasn’t the foam roller I provided them!

I only recently came across The Grid from one of the local dealers and thought “ok that seems interesting, and I’ll look into it”. I started doing a bit of research and background checking and was quite impressed with the concept and development of the product. Furthermore, I liked the thought process behind this and the Grid is designed in such a way that it can be utilised differently, on different parts of the body AND can offer variations in intensity. Not only that, but it can be used as a way of combining exercise WITH a massage effect. And that’s the kicker right there!

It was a no-brainer really and I had to try this out for myself. I also got into doing the SMRT-Core exercises with the Grid and found this is truly a unique way of not only treating muscle spasm and injuries, but a fantastic way of getting a whole body workout while getting the SMRT-Core massage.

I currently run these SMRT-Core classes every week and the great thing about this is that anyone can do it, and I do mean anyone. I have back patients, marathon runners, sports and fitness enthusiasts ALL in one class, working at their own pace and intensity and all using The Grid. I found this also extremely beneficial in targeting the Core muscles that are really important in back rehabilitation and pain management. So when these clients actually do the classes AND get to do their home exercises as well, that’s like any physiotherapist’s dream intervention protocol.

The clients love it. I had another client come to me and say that her kids were fighting over who got to roll on the Grid next! She had to buy another Grid because she couldn’t get the kids off hers’.

You can take a look at some of the exercises performed in the SMRT-Core classes here or go the Grid page here to look at it in more detail.

For those athletes and users that are looking for a more intensive and targeted Trigger Point massage experience, be sure to check out the other core line of products like: the TP Massage Ball, Starter Kit, and the Quadballer.

Here’s hoping you Stay in Shape…
